Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is not offered for the following courses:

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

  • HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting

  • HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy

SISSS00133 Pool Lifeguard Skill Set

GSPO Pool Lifeguard Reaccreditation, Section 9.7.1: “Pool Lifeguards are required to be assessed every 12 months to demonstrate currency of their knowledge and skills”

UETDRMP007 Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel

It is mandatory for electrical workers to be competent in Rescue and Resuscitation in accordance with section 68 of the South Australia Electricity (General) Regulations 2012. As the critical safety nature of working with electricity, electrical equipment, gas or any other hazardous substance/material carries high risk, electrical workers are required to maintain annual currency in UETDRMP007 Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel for authorisation/approval to work on electricity supply industry (ESI) environments.

Community Surf Rescue Certificate

As the PUASAR013 Participate in an aquatic rescue operation unit is also applicable to lifeguards in aquatic environments and to maintain a consistent approach with surf rescue, assessment is refreshed annually.


COVID-19 Information

Surf Life Saving SA (SLSSA) takes the health and safety of the community very seriously. Our COVID Safe Plan has seen us safely return to our face-to-face training calendar. Due to ongoing COVID-19 protocols and safety considerations, our Training and Education team has implemented updated procedures into our training programs as required.

Depending on the size of the training location and where social distancing requirements are necessary, our class numbers may be reduced.

When attending public courses at our head office Surf Central in West Beach, we invite healthy hygiene practices and promote social distancing. We ask that you do not attend if you are feeling unwell, have been in contact with a known or suspected case of COVID-19.

SLSSA will continue to monitor all information as it comes to hand in response to COVID-19 and will communicate with you in the event there are any further changes to our training program.
